What To Bring (and What To Leave Behind)
To make the most of Shred Days and keep things safe:
-
Bring documents that contain sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, signatures, account numbers, old bank/credit card statements, outdated medical or insurance records, etc.
-
Also OK to bring: expired IDs or driver’s licenses, and anything else with personal identifying information.
-
Leave behind: non-paper items (plastics, metals), magazines or books with no personal info (unless you really want them shredded), and items that should be recycled separately.
Each person may bring up to two large boxes of paper.
Why It Matters
-
Shredding reduces the risk of identity theft. Old documents can contain enough info to put you at risk.
-
It’s environmentally responsible: the shredded paper is usually recycled.
-
It’s satisfying. Seriously. Watching that stack disappear = instant peace of mind.
