We have received reports from members about fraudulent phone calls that appear to come from WyHy’s 307 number and our 1-800 number.
The caller claims they’ve detected possible identity theft or suspicious activity on the member’s account and then asks the member to verify personal information.
These calls are not from WyHy.
How the Scam Works
Scammers are using a tactic called “spoofing.” This allows them to manipulate caller ID so the call appears to come from a trusted number, including a legitimate WyHy phone number.
Because the number looks real, it can feel urgent and believable. That is exactly what the scammers are counting on.
The caller may:
-
Claim there is fraud on your account
-
Ask you to confirm your account number
-
Request your online banking username or password
-
Ask for a one-time verification code sent to your phone
-
Pressure you to act quickly to “stop” suspicious activity
What You Need to Know
WyHy will never:
-
Ask for your full account number over an unsolicited call
-
Ask for your online banking password
-
Ask for verification codes sent to your phone
-
Threaten immediate action if you do not provide information
If we need to discuss account activity with you, we will not pressure you to provide sensitive information on an unexpected call.
What To Do If You Receive One of These Calls
If you receive a suspicious call that appears to come from WyHy:
-
Hang up immediately.
-
Do not provide any personal or account information.
-
Call WyHy directly using the number listed on our official website or the back of your debit or credit card.
By calling us back directly, you ensure you are speaking with a legitimate WyHy representative.
