Don’t Get Tricked These Scams

Fake package delivery texts
Waiting on a package? Scammers know you probably are. Be suspicious of unexpected texts claiming there’s a problem with a delivery, especially if they ask you to click a link. Instead, go directly to the retailer or shipping company’s official website to check your order.
Fake online stores
That unbelievable deal might be more trick than treat. Before entering your card information on an unfamiliar website, take a minute to research the retailer and make sure you’re shopping somewhere legitimate.
Gift card scams
If someone tells you that you need to pay a bill, fee, fine, or emergency expense with gift cards, that’s a major red flag. Legitimate businesses and government agencies won’t demand payment that way.
QR code scams
Think before you scan. Fraudsters can place fake QR codes over legitimate ones and send you to websites designed to steal your information. Check the code and surrounding information, and always look at the web address before entering personal or financial details.
AI voice scams
This one can be especially spooky. Scammers can use artificial intelligence to imitate the voice of someone you know. If you receive an urgent call asking for money or information, hang up and contact that person directly using a phone number you already know.
A little caution can go a long way. When something feels off, don’t let urgency scare you into acting quickly. Take a moment, verify it, and when in doubt, contact WyHy.
