A New Chapter at WyHy: Welcoming Our New CEO, Matthew Ballou

At WyHy, leadership has always been about more than a title, it’s about people, purpose, and the responsibility we carry to serve our members and communities well.

That’s why we’re proud to share that Matthew Ballou has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026.

At WyHy, leadership has always been about more than a title—it’s about people, purpose, and the responsibility we carry to serve our members and communities well.

That’s why we’re proud to share that Matthew Ballou has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026.

Matt’s journey with WyHy spans more than 14 years. In that time, he’s helped shape who we are today. Working across teams, building relationships, and leading initiatives that have strengthened both our member experience and our organization as a whole. Most recently, as Chief Retail Officer, he led efforts in retail, marketing, and mortgage strategy that supported meaningful growth and innovation.

But more than his experience, it’s how Matt leads that stands out.

“Leadership is not about having all the answers,” Matt shared. “It’s about listening, learning, and making thoughtful decisions that reflect both our mission and the people we serve.”

That mindset reflects the heart of WyHy.

Matt steps into this role with a deep respect for the legacy built by longtime CEO Bill Willingham, whose leadership since 1984 has helped shape WyHy into the strong, community-focused credit union it is today. That foundation, built on trust, service, and commitment, continues to guide us forward.

As CEO, Matt is focused on continuing that legacy while thoughtfully leading us into the future. His approach centers on:

  • Listening to our members and team
  • Strengthening relationships across Wyoming communities
  • Making decisions with purpose and integrity
  • Growing in ways that stay true to who we are
“I’m honored to take this step,” Matt said. “Being part of WyHy has given me a deep appreciation for our people, our purpose, and the members we serve every day. I’m excited for what we’ll build together.”

This moment isn’t just about a leadership transition, it’s about continuing the work that matters most. Showing up for our members. Supporting our communities. And doing it all with care, integrity, and intention.

We’re proud of where we’ve been. And we’re excited for where we’re going.

We’re Wyoming. We’re with you.
